Trip to New York City

I love getting into the city. This trip was for both work and pleasure (mostly pleasure). Hung out with my sibs -- Rosanne, Julie and Charlie.  Thanks guys -- I had a great time. Saw the amazing play -- Rock of Ages -- a must see.  Ate a lot -- Carmine's near Time Square, Room Service in Hell's Kitchen, Le Pain Quotidien, Dean and DeLuca, and of course, Balthazar's. Plus, my regular stops to search out salvaged, recycled and other second hand finds in NYC-including drooling over the vintage section in ABC Carpet (way more than their online store) and the Old Good Things Architectural Salvage locations--someone pinch me -- I want to bring it all home. If you think I missed one or two (or a hundred) remember I only had 2 days :)  But send them my way for my next visit!  My best,  Joanne

Housing Works is a collection of Thrift Shops that help fund programs for people with AIDS/HIV. They have 10 locations throughout NYC.  I picked up some designer jeans and this great vintage suede jacket. You have to check them out!
You have got to check out the salvage details in the store displays at Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie stores.  This is from Urban Outfitters on 5th Avenue.  LOVE the designers creativity -- hope to meet them one day (or be one of them :) )

Urban Outfitters on 5th Ave. There Urban Renewel program is interesting as well.

Anthropologie in NYC -- love their salvage displays -- so clever.

Another great vintage clothing shop--Daha Vintage on 175 Orchard, NYC

My twin sister, Rosanne, sitting at the community table at Le Pain Quotidien. Not only great food, organic and yummy, but reclaimed wood tables and more.

Here is my breakfast there! Yummy.
Stopped at a hair styling shop got my hair done.  Revolver Salons -- love their lighting fixture made with recycled hair dryers. They had a lot of cool salvage -- including old speakers as countertops.
My hair done -- so glamorous -- the hair --not me :)  Thanks Lu!

Olde Good Things! Does it get any better than this?  I say no :)
THANK YOU NYC for a GREAT TIME!
